Stepped Shafts

As one of the most common shaft types in mechanical engineering, stepped shafts are characterized by a thicker middle section and thinner ends and consist of multiple segments with different diameters. Compared with a smooth “plain shaft,” their stepped design better satisfies requirements for component assembly, positioning, and strength.

These shafts are divided into single-step and double-step shafts according to step direction, and into bar-stock and forged shafts based on the manufacturing method.

Common materials used in these shafts include 45#steel,40Cr,etc.

Raw materials → Forging → Turning → Milling → Heat treatment → Grinding → Inspection → Packaging&shipping

Application

Stepped shafts are widely used in various rotating machinery, especially electric motors. They are also commonly found in automotive gearboxes, machine tool spindles, and other applications requiring power transmission and precise positioning.
