Common materials:
High quality carbon steel(e.g.,45#steel):This material features good overall performance,low cost, and wide availability.It suitable for various light-duty and low-speed gears with low strength requirements.By quenching & tempering or induction hardening,its hardness is up to HRC45-55.
Medium-carbon quenched & tempered steel(e.g.,40Cr,SCM440):This material has superior strength and toughness over ordinary carbon steel and good overall performance.By quenching & tempering or nitriding,its hardness is up to HRC45-55.
Copper-alloys:This material offers good anti-friction and corrosion resistance.
It is mainly used in special applications like worm wheels.
Aluminum alloys(e.g.,6061,7075):This material are chosen for their low weight.It is suitable for light-load ,high-speed,or weight-sensitive applications.
Engineering plastic(e.g.,nylon,POM,PEEK) :This material offers lightweight,low noise,and self-lubricating.It is suitable for applications requiring low-noise and light-load and usually injection molded.
